These smaller cans have easy open "pop tops". They also have the original grocery store label on them in case you want to check the ingredients. So, in the field, you would use your P-38 to open the c-ration can, then pop open the inner can to get to the chow. The food inside tastes good at either ambient room temperature, or heated over a camp fire. But if you want a hot ration, please pop open the inner can before you heat it up - otherwise you'll turn your ration into a pasta grenade.
